Cancers have been a very common nowadays. But cancer was once considered as a disease of a rich man. It was very uncommon then that normal people would get cancer. However, times have changed and so did the diseases. Gone were the days that only the rich can afford to have this disease and are the only ones who can afford to undergo treatment.

Ten or fifteen years ago, there were very few types of cancers known to men. It was a common fact that smokers were susceptible to lung cancers and as for women, it seemed that breast cancer was a dreaded disease. But nowadays, there are many different kinds of cancers and it will strike at anyone, regardless of age and gender. For women, the most common type of cancer, even for the younger ones like teens and single women, is the ovarian cancer. It does not matter if one is sexually active or not.

According to the article, one is more susceptible or more likely to get ovarian cancer if she has a first degree relative that has ovarian cancer too. Another is when ovarian cancer runs in the family and has ovarian cancer in every generation. The risk is much higher then. According to an article, cancer develops when the body produces more cells than it should. It is a known fact that a human body is composed of hundreds and even thousands of cells. There are required numbers of cells that body needs to produce to function well. According to an article, cells divide to meet the required number of cells in the body. However, there are times that the body loses some control over the division of cells that the cells divide more than they should. These cells would gather together and form one big mass. It is noted though, that not all mass or tumors are cancerous. It is up to the gynecologist to examine it using a gynecology microscope to determine if the tumor is cancerous or not.

According to the article, tests can be done to women of families who have a history of ovarian cancers. But for those who have no history, it is very hard to detect ovarian cancer in its earliest stage. The article stated that some women may feel symptoms such as vague gastrointestinal or GI discomfort, pressure in the pelvis, pain, swelling of the abdomen, and shortness of breath. However, most women might not even have symptoms at all. It is therefore recommended that one should undergo physical examinations yearly.

Should one be diagnosed with ovarian cancer, there are tests conducted to find out the stage of the disease. This can be done through an operation called laparoptomy where the doctor has to cut in the abdomen to examine all the other organs if they have cancer cells too. Then the doctor will perform a biopsy or cut a small tissue or part of the mass and view it under a gynecology microscope. When these are done, then the doctor can hand in the results to his patient.

The article has provided the readers an almost step by step process on how to diagnose an ovarian cancer. It is noted that this is not possible if the gynecology microscope is not present. The gynecology microscope has proven to be an important part of the operation since it will be used to determine the stage of the disease. This just shows how important the role of the gynecology microscope is in the daily work of a gynecologist.
